Local Flowers and Environmental Stewardship

A new generation of consumers, florists, and farmers are focusing on providing products for their local communities, while lowering pollution and preserving and encouraging ecosystems to address environmental concerns.

The degradation of land from large scale industrial farming has decreased habitat for animals, damaged water supplies, and resulted in the loss of topsoil. This isn't a practice that fosters long term environmental stability. (Source: https://www.nrdc.org/stories/industrial-agriculture-101 )

However, small-scale flower farming is perfectly aligned to environmental stewardship!

Most of our growers plant a large variety of crops, plant a mixture of annual and perennial plants, use low or no chemicals for growing their crops, and encourage wildlife. Many plant native plants to foster the local ecosystem on their farm and encourage natural pollinators and predators to do pest management.

By thinking holistically, our growers steward their land instead of simply using it. Rather than contributing to current problems, with this mindset and implementation, our industry can have a positive impact on the environment.
